Manuscript Assessment and Developmental Editing

Some editors separate these two services, but I offer them as one comprehensive package. This means you get the best of both worlds for a single price. This service provides big-picture feedback on your work. It’s the right place to begin your first edit (after your own round of self-editing, of course). There’s no point fine-tuning sentences if you’ll most likely revise or rearrange them later.

Here’s where I come in. I’ll give you a thorough, insightful evaluation of what’s working and what isn’t. You’ll receive minimal to moderate in-manuscript commentary along with a detailed editorial report.

Key areas of focus include: Plot, characters, point of view, narrative voice, pacing, conflict, chemistry, setting, scenes and more, depending on your manuscript.

Be prepared for helpful and sincere feedback designed to strengthen your manuscript not tear it down. I’ll tell the truth in love, but tell the truth I must.

I would also like to schedule a one-hour Google Meet audio session after a week so we can exchange ideas, my feedback and your thoughts or questions. The week gives you time to reflect on what I’ve shared and see what works best for you. Ultimately, it’s your book, and you will always have the final say. This option is exclusively available for this particular service.

Line and Copy Editing

Although line editing and copy editing are distinct services, I combine them into a single package to give you a smoother, more efficient editing experience, saving you both time and money.

Line Editing

Once the developmental editing stage is complete, your manuscript is ready for line editing. Using the Track Changes and Comments features in Word, I’ll enhance the style, flow, readability, and tone of your writing while preserving your unique voice.

Copy Editing

Here, I’ll focus on reviewing and refining grammar, spelling, punctuation, adherence to style guidelines, factual accuracy, and overall consistency.

Proofreading

If you’ve used me for developmental, line, or copy editing, I won’t personally proofread your work, as I’d be too familiar with it. However, I have a small team of trusted editors, one of whom will go through your manuscript for proofreading with fresh eyes. This final review focuses on catching any remaining typos, minor errors, or formatting issues, ensuring your work is polished and ready for publication or submission.

Even the most experienced authors can struggle to write a blurb that hooks readers without giving too much away. I’ll provide two amazing blurbs for you to choose from so you don’t have to stress.
