2. Services Provided
We offer developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, in-house proofreading, blurb crafting, and related editorial services. Service details, timelines, and pricing may be updated at any time without prior notice.
3. Booking and Payment
A non-refundable 25% deposit is required to secure a booking. Work begins on the agreed start date only after the deposit is received. The remaining balance must be paid upon completion of the service and before the final files are released to the client. All payments are non-refundable, regardless of project stage.
4. Revisions
For line editing and copyediting, you are entitled to one round of revision via email only. For developmental editing, you are entitled to one revision call only to discuss feedback and clarifications. Any additional revisions will incur extra charges.
5. Communication
All project communication, delivery of files, and revisions will occur via email unless otherwise mutually agreed.
6. Turnaround Time
An estimated timeline will be communicated before work begins. This estimate may be adjusted based on manuscript length, complexity, communication delays, or unforeseen circumstances. We will notify you promptly if timelines will shift. Client delays such as late responses, incomplete documents, or missing information, may extend the delivery timeline.
7. Quality and Expectations
We aim to provide a polished, professional manuscript. While we strive for excellence, no editor can guarantee a manuscript will be completely error-free or “perfect.” You are responsible for reviewing your final manuscript before publishing or submitting it.
8. No Guarantee of Publishing Outcomes
Editing improves clarity and quality, but it cannot guarantee acceptance by agents, publishers, contests, or reviewers. You acknowledge that all final decisions regarding your manuscript remain yours.
9. Client Responsibilities
By using our services, you agree that: You own the rights to the manuscript or materials you submit. Your content does not infringe on any copyright, trademark, privacy, or intellectual property rights. You will not submit harmful, illegal, abusive, or obscene content. You will supply a clean and readable word or Google document for editing. You will provide clear instructions and respond promptly to emails or communication necessary to complete your project.
10. Intellectual Property
All original content, edits, notes, and suggestions we provide remain your property once the final payment is made. We do not claim ownership of your manuscript.
11. Refunds
All payments made to The Joyful Publisher are strictly non-refundable.
12. Disclaimer of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
We provide all services “as is.” We make no warranties regarding outcomes, accuracy, or error-free manuscripts. We are not liable for any damages, including but not limited to: lost revenue, lost opportunities, rejected submissions, emotional distress, business losses, delays, or any indirect or consequential damages. You agree that you use our services at your own discretion and risk.
